No city in America has "preserved" more traditional houses that New Orleans.
You can ride around for hours (preferably on bicycle) and never leave an area that's less than 75% "old" houses.
While there is a strong preservation movement in the city, the reality is many of these houses persist because they are just so well put together.
So why not incorporate these winning designs and building methods into new construction?
Good question which the news media in its perpetually celebrity-addled state never asks.
